2019, Osage orange, Hickory, plaster, concrete, PLA and cable wires, 1.25 x 10.5 x.5'
Through digital and hand- fabricated process an existing rock was re-created. These composite rocks of 2 processes and materials are shown rested in their own impression and material. The natural object lives again and the darker rocks serve as voids of the natural form, while the others have no separation in process or material.
Encased Heritage and Nature
2018, oak, walnut, plaster, and concrete, 8 x 3 x 6 '
The fragmented wood in bricks is influenced by the stories told by my father, who built his Salvadoran house out of nearby land and recycled construction materials. I took an interest in the way that he built with both the natural and manmade resources available to him. Specifically, he used broken tile shards to lay out the whole floor of his house and built sections of his backyard with broken bricks.
Tempest Collectives
2018, oak, walnut, plaster, Concrete, 47 x 49 x 3"
Influenced by hurricane formations and the natural grain of the wood, they are showing a relationship of control and ruptures. While contained, this cooperative nature pairs an embracement of wood and the way plaster and concrete expand and contract when together.
